Munich Airport NJ LLC is an US-based subsidiary of the German Airport Operator Munich Airport. Munich Airport NJ LLC is responsible for the maintenance and concession management at the existing Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), and will be responsible for the operations, maintenance and concession management of the recently opened New Terminal A at EWR! We are looking for a Deputy Terminal Security Managerto join our team as soon as possible. You will be part of a quickly growing team, helping not only to create a secure passenger terminal, but also to develop the Terminal Operator company with your expertise and personality. You will report to the Terminal Security Manager (TSM) and play a vital role in the provision of a large number of security requirements. Below are the departmental responsibilities: as a multi-skilled individual, you will coordinate and align with the TSM on the split of tasks, to ensure optimum coverage remains in place across the operation. Your Future Responsibilities

  • Management and oversight of the third-party security service provider (SSP) including:
    • Adherence to contractual obligations
    • Adherence to contracted KPIs
    • Regular terminal inspections to ensure security coverage is in place and performing
    • Regular internal testing of security officer responses to door alarms and process knowledge
    • Regular testing of Security Operations Center (SOC) to ensure communication and coordination is properly maintained
    • Quality control and audit of the security service provider and security provision in the terminal (security survey, inspections, tests, reports, etc.)
    • Review and approval of all invoices and costs associated with the security service provider
  • Single point of contact (SPOC) for terminal security in the event of an incident or emergency
  • Facilitates the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the Comprehensive Security Plan for Terminal A
  • Facilitates the management and maintenance of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and fallback procedures, updating as required on a quarterly basis to incorporate any changes or additions to the security operations
  • Ensures the application of approved security measures and procedures to promote their effective implementation, including adherence to Breach of Rules procedures by SIDA badge holders
  • Coordinate electronic and mechanical access control to optimize access levels for staff at Terminal A
  • Establishes and maintains a Security Management System (SeMS)
  • Designs, develops and manages an effective security risk matrix for Terminal A
  • Initiates and conducts security audits of all operational and maintenance units, as well as corporate aspects of security management
  • Ensures that all security staff are trained, qualified and competent to execute their security-related obligations
  • Develops and promotes security management awareness across Terminal A employees and stakeholders
  • Communicates and coordinates with the Airport Security Manager (ASM) and Airport Deputy Security Manager (ADSM) in relation to compliance with all aviation security regulatory requirements) regarding Terminal A security matters and escalation as required
  • Follows any instructions issued by the Security Department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ)
  • Oversight of security measures and procedures contained in the approved Comprehensive Security Plan
  • Liaises with all Terminal A tenants and airlines as required in relation to aviation security matters
  • Reports and monitors aviation security incidents, including threats and breaches
  • Oversees, monitors and evaluates the selected security contractor’s performance and compliance
  • Liaises with the Port Authority Police Department (PAPD) in relation to criminal offenses, and other law enforcement matters as directed by the PANYNJ
  • Acts as the Terminal Security Manager upon request (e.g. during absence)

Your Education & Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Security or Aviation Management preferred / AVSEC PM /ACE
  • 7-10 years experience in a senior security position in an aviation/airport security environment

Your Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of 49CFR parts 1540, 1542 and 1520 and PANYNJ requirements for Airport Security & Certification
  • Knowledge of airport operations, aviation law, and applicable regulations
  • Broad understanding of Security Management System requirements
  • Knowledge of airport emergency operations and security requirements
  • Experience in the set up, system requirements and operation of a Security Operations Center (SOC )
  • Understands the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and has the ability of independent decision making
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer skills (MS Office)
  • In-depth working knowledge of Transportation Security Administration regulations
  • Demonstrated experience with computerized security control systems
  • Knowledge of and experience in managing external/third party service providers
  • Experience of contract administration and development, budgeting, and personnel administration
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to effectively interact with internal and external senior management, and governmental agencies
